Entering a new phase of life is filled with mixed emotions both happy and sad. Happy because we think we will be free, no more restrictions. Sad because we have to leave our family and live with people we do not know. At this point, the most important person is the roommate that we get and within a few days, this roommate becomes our family.
So when we go out in the world, we should pray to God that we get the best person as our roommate. Why? Because that person is the only one who will be there in all your ups and downs.
Here is why having roomie is the most amazing thing EVER!-
Your bond with your roommate is the strongest bond that you may not feel when you stay together. But the day you have to leave each other that will be the day when you will realize that the bond that you shared was the one which you could not share with anyone in the hostel.
When you start staying with a person that person becomes your family or in other words you get dependent on that person. You are there for each other every time when needed. Waking up each other, deciding at night that who will get up early next morning, doing everything really very quickly when you feel that your roommate will get late, late night oiling sessions followed by gossip sessions are endless, watching movies together and then secretly watching series so that your roomie cannot break the suspense.
It is the duty of the roommate to steal breakfast from the mess if her partner could not get ready on time. From staying together to making plans for shopping and traveling to new places. Cooking for each other and pampering each other when ever required.
Getting used to such things just takes a few days and then you start liking it and staying alone in the room is what you miss sometimes. But later, when you have to actually stay alone it is okay for a day but more than that becomes a nightmare.
Calling each other during holidays and deciding all the stuff that you need in hostel and assigning each other responsibilities to get things. After holidays waiting for your roommate to come and sharing food and then cursing the mess food.
Everything becomes perfect. You both start listening to the same music, go to bed at the same time and clean meticulously. The most tough period that roommates have to face is the exams when neither off you feel like studying and then at the end you both mess up everything. Deep inside you both know how difficulty you have faced the exams and managed to pass. Then you both promise each other that you won’t repeat it but every time it is the same story.
How can roommates forget clicking weird pictures of each other and even clicking insane selfies and all these pictures are useful for both of them during each other’s birthday.
Birthday planning starts a month ago how to decorate the room, what gift should be given, which cake should be ordered and how should be everything kept hidden from the other? A roommate leaves no stone unturned to make our birthday really very special so that we don’t miss our home much. Borrowing each other’s clothes and dressing up and helping the other with the makeup is a part of their life.
Roommates have seen each other’s laughter as well as tears. You have argued with each other over one or the other topic, but at the end agreed on a common statement. Bond between two roommates cannot be compared to anything starting from strangers but at the end you both become a family.
When the final day comes when both off you have to part from each other it becomes really very difficult you both remember all the good and happy times you had spent together and bid goodbye to each other with watery eyes and a promise to always stay in touch. At this moment you understand that how much difficult it would have been for Joey and Chandler when they had parted for a while.
This is a glimpse of life of roommates but they have much more than this and they enjoy to the fullest in every situation and that is how a total stranger becomes a family.
