1. Talk Show- TWENTY88

Two celebs dating each other talk about their relationship on a talk show in the song and this reminds you how much drama relationships bring to your life. Is that what you need? Nope.

2. Because I’m Me-The Avalanches

From their latest album, Wildflower, this song is unique in itself. The boy loves the girl but she pays no attention. Even though in her presence the boy is starstruck. It is certainly a song that will make up happy.

3. 100 Letters- Halsey

“100 Letters” is a pop power ballad describing the story of two lovers who try to work out their failing relationship. The song uses Greek mythology, like the legend of King Midas, to develop the narrative. Halsey said that “100 Letters” was the first song she wrote off the album, stating it was similar to the prologue of Romeo + Juliet where the narrator spoils the ending of the story: It’s like me saying, hey we break up and I don’t give him anything but here’s the album.

4. Do Re Mi- Blackbear ft. Gucci Mane

The song, as featured in the album Digital Druglord pays an ode to a failing relationship with an evidently conceited and self-centered girl. Sounds familiar? Continue reading.

5. Cry Me A River- Justin Timberlake

Classic break up song, every break up playlist needs this song. “Bridges were burned, now it’s your turn to cry”- need I say more?

6. The Worst- Jhene Aiko

Ever fell in love with someone who was not right for you and instantly regretted it? This song’s theme explores exactly that. But I guess the title is self explanatory about that.

7. PRBLMS- 6LACK

He dated the wrong person and he’s talking about that in the song. He did things for her, but he’s moving on now. 6LACK:” I remember it like it was yesterday. I used to pride myself on not dealing with nobody crazy, as far as relationships go. So I would always be like, “I’ve never dealt with nobody crazy.” Because I just don’t attract that. For once, I got into a situation where everybody was like, “Don’t do it.” And I was like, “Nah, I got this. This is what I do.” And I did it, and it just spun out of control. “PRBLMS” was born. Everything in the song was verbatim what I was dealing with at the time. These were direct lines, literally from text messages to actual arguments and conversations. ” Damn.

8. Love Yourself- Justin Beiber

“With the help of Benny Blanco, Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran wrote this parting song to a past lover—it’s both bitter and caring. ” (via genius.com) A powerful breakup song that makes you vulnerable and at the same time helps you deal with it.
9. You Lied- Rayy Dubb
The hook tells you everything what the song is about –
“Girl you lied to me, talkin’ ’bout you love me from the start
Girl you lied to me, talkin’ ’bout you’ll never break my heart
Girl you lied to me, talkin’ ’bout that we were just in love
Baby girl it wasn’t love, guess my love wasn’t enough “
10. Weakness- Jeremy Zucker
This song is about how no matter much he wants to leave the girl, she has his heart but he doesn’t have hers. He can try to leave but she could do the simplest thing and he’ll come crawling back. He is putty in her hands. Yep. Right in ’em feels.
11. 3 A.M.- N.F
From his album, Perception, the song talks about a relationship that took a turn for the worse. Ever had someone who played a huge part in your life but everything went for a toss? And now you are wary of people? THAT.
12. IDGAF- Dua Lipa

“Lyrically, it serves as a kiss-off to a creeping ex who’s trying to latch on to fame. In these lines, Dua Lipa states that unlike the ex-lover that is trying to come back into her life, she has moved on from their relationship since it ended. She is no longer stuck in the past, she has finished shedding tears over their relationship and is moving on to better things. ” via genius.com
13. Better Off Alone- Ayo & Teo
Someone ever fall in “love” with you for your money? This song talks about a relationship based on materialistic things. And how you are better off alone than be with someone like that.
14. Super Far- LANY

The song is about a long distance relationship that’s coming to an end.
15. Fuck You- CeeLo Green
Lol. You know what this is about.
“And although there’s pain in my chest,
I still wish you the best
With a fuck you “
16. New Rules- Dua Lipa
“New Rules” is about moving on from an ex and how you need to stay away from them. The narrator needs to treat themselves like they would a friend with their own advice.

In the music video’s behind the scenes, Dua said: It’s the breakup song that I wish I had when I was breaking up with someone. This is me taking charge…it’s about keeping your distance from someone who’s bad for you. I’m setting some rules down so that I won’t go back to that person.

17. Wanted You- NAV ft. Lil Uzi Vert

“Can’t believe I wanted you”. This song is about how cheating ruins relationships and how it is all too common now.

18. The Good Side- Troye Sivan

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Troye stated: “This song’s a little rough. It’s basically about a breakup that I went through a while ago. You know, in a breakup, I think just the sheer nature of it, is that someone is going to get it rough. And I happened to be on the good side of things — I got to go on tour, I got to go and see the world, I had this very therapeutic experience of singing songs about that breakup and watching people sing them back to me, and I met someone new fairly soon afterwards.

It’s sort of a letter to that person to express apologies and sympathy and if I could change this at all, I would’ve. So I’m hoping that this song, a couple years down the line, is going to serve as a cathartic experience for the both of us to be like, ‘look, this is the way that things happened and whenever we’re ready to move on, let’s do that.’”

19. Bet U Wish- Raye

So guy cheated on this girl and she went through a tough time getting over it and now he wants her back but she’s smarter now. so this song’s about that –
“bet you wish that you have kept me
And now you’re falling on your front teeth
And I can see your skin a tint of green
Oh you’d wish you wouldn’t, no
I bet you wish you didn’t touch her
See now you’re making out you’re so hurt
The way you made me feel is much worse
And now you wish you could reverse ”

20. These Days- Rudimental ft. Jess Glynne, Macklemore, Dan Caplen

This lyric shows that he has no regrets from having (and leaving) the relationship he had with his girlfriend, as it helped him find his way in life, and he couldn’t have done it without her, hence the ‘thank you’ from him. Light is approaching, fellas.

21. Wish U The Best- Blackbear

While reminiscing about a recent relationship, Blackbear states that his former partner will never find another better than he was to them. His description of drug-filled parties and success despite having had a bad year previously exude a need to show that he’s doing well without them.

22. After The Storm- Kali Uchis ft. Tyler, The Creator, Bootsy Collins

The last song on the list. It is inspiring and makes you want to be independent and push yourself to get through the “storm”.
