The Spice Cave, Zirakpur- FOOD REVIEW

The Spice Cave, Zirakpur is located on VIP road, near Hollywood Heights in a quiet little corner. At first, you have a little trouble finding it. But as soon as you enter, the interior takes you back in time.

The walls are painted in an old world fashion which is a refreshing change from the restaurants of today. The lighting is sublime and you settle yourself in a nice little corner. You are greeted by Abhishek, the co-owner of the place who introduces you to your attendant for the day.

What we had: First, we were served mocktails from a huge range of options- we settled for a mojito, a blue lagoon and another cooler. They were all refreshingly nice. I, especially, loved the mojito. It is certainly amongst the best that I have had in the tricity.

Next, we make way for our starters. We try four- seekh kebab, cheese chilly, honey chilli mushroom and cheese fingers. There is not a lot of fault I can take out with the dishes except that I found some of them a bit oily for my liking. Else everything tastes sumptuous, specifically the latter three.

There is soothing music playing, all new bollywood numbers. But they are all instrumentals so they don’t distract you but still keep your foot tapping.

For the main course, we ordered dal makhni and kadhai paneer. For breads, we had a laccha parantha and a butter naan. The dal was easily the best dal makhni I have had, hands down. The kadhai paneer was good too. However, again this was bit too oily for my liking. But it tasted good nevertheless. The breads were nice, soft and fresh so no complaints on that front.

Verdict: If you are a foodie, The Spice Cave is a great place for you to be despite its location. While we were there, a kitty party was going on. Further, many people were continuously dropping by for takeouts and the like.

Price Points: Rs. 1000 for two persons including taxes.

P.S. You can even watch a vlog on the place here
