Donald Trump took oath as the 45th president of the United States of America on January 20,2017. The businessman turned politician won the election by defeating Hillary Clinton by a huge margin. His promise? Making America great again. April 20,2017 marked 100th day of Trump’s presidency, so let’s take a look if he has succeeded in making America great or not.

Some of the major decisions taken by Trump till date are:-

1)Travel ban

Soon after taking over as the president, Donal Trump signed an executive order. It was titled “protecting the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States”. This put a halt on the entry of citizens of Muslim majority Middle Eastern countries. This move was highly criticized by various counties from across the globe. It was later blocked by a Hawaiian federal judge.

2) Increase in defense Budget

While major global powers like Russia and Britain are considering to decrease their defense budget, Trump has proposed to increase the defense spending. And not some meager amount but by $54 billion. Thus, strengthening the race for arms and weapons in the globe. Looking at the number of nukes and other weapons of mass destruction possessed by various counties, the UN has been encouraging the reduction of defense spending by countries. But Trump doesn’t seem to like the idea of disarmament and global peace.

3) Refurbishing border security with Mexico

On his first day as a presidential candidate, Trump promised to build a Hi-Tech border security wall along the southern border with Mexico. After coming to power, Trump signed a few executive orders to fulfill that promise.

4)Air strikes on Syria

Recently, news broke out that there has been a chemical attack in the Syrian town of Idlib. Trump immediately responded by firing tomahawk missiles at various locations. This also included an air base killing dozens of civilians, including children. Although the Assad regime had denied any speculations of being behind the attacks of Idlib, Trump without doing any proper investigation into the matter decided to fire missles into Syrian air space killing innocent civilians. This act has been strongly condemned by the Russian president Vladimir Putin.

5) Dropped mother of all bombs

Taking a bold step, Trump gave orders to drop a 21,600 pound,$17,000 bomb on Asadkhel. It is a small village in Afghanistan. This non-atomic bomb is also called “the mother of all bombs”. It was targeted to destroy an old series of tunnels being used by ISIS fighters as shelter. As per the figures provided by the Afghan defence ministry, 36 suspected Islamic State fighters were killed in the attack. Also, the entire series of underground tunnels was destroyed successfully.

6) Increased patrolling in the South-China sea

Looking at the growing power of China in the South China sea, US navy has started patrolling in the South China sea to counter China. Various US navy ships including USS Carl Vinson, the 97,000-ton aircraft carrier have been patrolling in the region. This is done to keep an eye on the Chinese.

7) Installed THAAD missile defense system in South Korea

There has been an escalation of tensions between US and North Korea. So, Trump recently has ordered to install THAAD anti-ballistic missile in South Korea. This is done in order to protect its allies from any missile attacks carried out by the North Koreans. It has been widely opposed by the South Korea. It has also blamed Trump for increasing the chances of a war between the two neighbours.

8)Weakened Obamacare

Obamacare is a healthcare reform law that improves access to health care. Also, it curbs spending through regulations and taxes. After becoming the president of US, Trump has been constantly working on weakening the Obamacare Health policy. He says the government has to pay a lot of money for. Thus, it affects the economy.
