First Day, First Show: The Grudge: MOVIE REVIEW

Movie: The Grudge
Director: Nicolas Pesce
Starring: Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, John Cho, Lin Shaye

Review: After a long time a horror movie has come so expectations were high. But The Grudge fails to impress a lot. Yet, all is not lost. The Japanese curse travels to the USA with its first victim and everything goes crazy in the town of Cross River from there.

The Grudge is strong on script but the scares are far and in between if you are a seasoned horror movies buff. If it takes a lot to scare you, The Grudge is not for you. But you will still enjoy it because of its impressive background score and great execution. The script alternates between three timelines in the movie. It can be a bit confusing for some movie-goers but it all makes sense at the end.

The thing to look most forward to in the movie is its end. Not because it is that bad. But because when you think all is done and dusted, there comes a surprise which is easily the best part of the movie.

Sure, like any other horror movie, The Grudge, too, has really stupid moments but also moments that assure you that there is good hope for this genre in the future. Watch it if you would like a nice change from the usual movies.
