This is how you can make use of your kurti now that college and office are about to start. No, we are not referring to the typical churidaar, salwar, or long kurtis. Why are fundamentals necessary when there are so many cooler and better ways to add that “desi swag”?
When I see this, the line from Guru Randhawa’s lyrics that says,
“But you know what’s my favorite? When you rock in that desi swag!” comes to mind.
Now that the hottest singer of the decade has said it, long kurtis and desi outfits are a must for everyday looks.
The fact of the matter is that you should never wear too many long kurtis. This is because there are so many different kinds of long and asymmetrical kurtis available that many of us haven’t even tried all of them. Each one has its own significance and makes a big impression on your appearance.
This is how we at Libas style various types of long and short kurtis in six distinct ways, one for each day of the week.
- Wear it with Jeans and Sneakers
Wearing long, cut-off kurtis with pants and shoes is a great way to beat the Monday blues. I paired ripped pants with an M-cut or twofold-cut kurta. I wore my tan, earthy-colored brogues, wore no hoop earrings, and handcuffed my pants in an excellent two-overlay fashion to keep it from looking too Indian.
- Wear it like a jacket
Get a pretty kurti with an open front. particularly long kurtas; floor length or slightly higher. Wear a nice plain top underneath, paired with jeans or shorts, and wear the kurti over it like a shrug. Earrings with tassels and shoes with ties complete the look. Alternatively, you could go completely boho and see how people react when you walk onto the campus looking absolutely stunning.
- Wear it with Palazzo pants and go ethnic
Another variation that falls under the long kurtis category is the high-low Kurti. Except for these, there is no definition and the hemline is straight. When you wear these kurtis with confidence, they will flatter any age or body type. You can wear it with pants that are full-length, palazzo pants, or even formal pants. You’ll be both stylish and comfortable when you wear this to college. Adore it with oxidized jewelry for an ethnic look.
- Long kurtis as dresses
We all love to wear one piece of clothing but avoid it for a variety of reasons. It’s either too short, too long, too tight or not your style at all. However, if you pair long kurtis, particularly umbrella-style ones, with oxidized jewelry and a really nice pair of juttis, you can instantly rock your college attire!
- Wear it with a Skirt
Wrap-around skirts is absolutely stunning for everyday usage. Wear your long white kurtis above these skirts and wear shell jewelry to give it a boho look.
Lastly,
- Layer it
We wore the Kurti as a jacket, now, let’s pull over a jacket on the Kurti. Wearing the Long kurtis and then shrugging it up with a long tassel jacket or even a short Jaipuri jacket will do wonders.
Therefore, these were our six individual approaches to wearing long or any kurtis for everyday use. Please let us know if you can think of any other ways to combine these six!
