Some time ago, I had the opportunity to sample out the food at Hunka Hunka Town. For those who don’t know, Hunka Hunka Town is a classic themed restaurant. It is located in Sector-26, Chandigarh.
Ambience: The very first thing you notice about the place is that the decor is inspired. Elvis Presley’s signature costume, guitars, saxophones…there is an old world charm to the place. Also, there are cute booths and retro music is playing. So clearly, everything about the ambience is love.

Food: Coming to what you are here for- the food. I tried special 4 course lunch meal. To begin with, we ordered a Hot and Sour soup. In my opinion, this is the second best soup I have had in Chandigarh. (You can read about my most favorite here.) And saying this, is a huge deal. Because it means that the soup is divine.

Next, for our entrees, we tried the Paneer Tikka (obviously) and the Mushroom Cigar Rolls. The Paneer Tikka is like how you expect your Tikka to be. But there is nothing exceptional about it. However, the Mushroom Cigar Rolls at Hunka Hunka Town are a different ballgame altogether. These Cigar rolls are served in cute shot glasses accompanied with a creamy mint dip. And there are only three words to describe them- to die for! Seriously, these Cigar Rolls are an absolute must try with the oozing cheese and the yummy mushrooms inside a crunchy top layer. The dip, too, is absolutely fantastic and you will simply want more!

For the main course, we ordered two dishes. One, Mexican Rice Bowl with Cottage Cheese and two, Penne Pasta with White Sauce. If you like Mexican food, the rice bowl is the perfect choice for you. It is a bit on the heavier side but they serve it with a nice refreshing salad. So the salad gives it the relief that it needs. However, if you like your food bombarded with spices, it is not for you. The pasta, too, is absolutely delicious. I really loved their white sauce which so many places do not seem to get right. Their garlic bread served along is okayish. I mean, I have had more impressive breads. But the pasta more than makes up for it.

Finally, we wiped off our meal with a sinful Brownie with Ice Cream and I absolutely loved how gooey their brownie was. Also, they are very generous with the chocolate sauce. So you cannot really ask for a better ending to your meal.

Price points: The special menu cost 599++ per person.
