Udaipur is known as the city of lakes. Thousands of tourists visit this heritage city every year to experience its unparalleled beauty. But what if I tell you, there is another side to Udaipur, one that is filled with lush green trees, breathtaking views and exotic wildlife? Do I have your attention? Yes? Let’s go on a virtual tour of Devraj Villa.
Conceptualised by Mr. Shurveer Singh Bhati, an international traveller, Devraj Villa is a one of its kind homestay nestled in Shikarbadi. In my opinion, Shikarbadi is perhaps one of the most beautiful places in Udaipur, but relatively unexplored.
This 7 room bungalow is designed in a Portuguese style architecture that completely blows you away at first sight. A huge lawn with a marvellous pool overlooking the hills and of course, the wild is completely different from the “traditional” Udaipur people have come to know and love.
The best part about the place is that the individual suites are built in a way that you get complete privacy. Yet, if you want to host a get together with family and friends, you can book the entire property to enjoy yourselves to the fullest.
All the suites have a charm of their own, but perhaps my personal favourite is the Honeymoon themed room. Tastefully decorated with pastel florals, the room exudes a warmth and comfort that is unmatchable. But the main highlight, of course, is its huge (and I mean, HUGE) bathroom with a walk-in jacuzzi that is heavenly.
You don’t get to enjoy this type of luxury even in the best of hotels, that is easily made available to you in a bed and breakfast like Devraj Villa.

Coming to the food, it is served in buffet style in a tastefully decorated hall on the ground floor. The hall features a huge glass window that allows you to see what is happening in the kitchen live.
If you are someone who loves their food cooked home style, then you are in for an absolute treat! The in-house chef can cook up some really delicious local delicacies. These include dishes like Laal Maas, Haldi ka achar, among others. While you are at it, do not miss out on his heavenly cheese maggi, which is to die for!
