There is a question that is asked annually on International Women’s Day on March 8. Yep, you guessed it right. When is the International Men’s Day celebrated? Is there even such a thing as an International Men’s Day?
So, here is the answer to this question.
International Men’s Day is TODAY. It is celebrated each and every year on 19th November which people (read, men) think goes unnoticed. But it is absolutely not true. How can we possibly forget the value of a man in our lives? The things they have done for us and most importantly the sacrifices they have made, especially by our fathers?
So here is to all the amazing men in our lives:
First a son,
Then a student,
Then a friend,
and life goes on.
From a colleague to the boss,
To someone’s Rachel, you are Ross
Then you become a father, a guide,
Life takes you on a wild ride!
Then the grandfather who gets candy,
Or everyone’s favourite uncle with brandy!
There are many roles you play,
and smile throughout the day.
Kudos to all you’ve done,
With you, life is fun!
We know you fall, but you act strong and do not show it because that is what has been taught by our society. Men do not cry. But it is okay to cry, it is okay to fall and then rise up with a new energy. It is okay to not feel good sometimes, to be weak, because ups and down are a part of our life.
It is absolutely okay to express your feelings and forget about being judged because you can’t help it since you cannot change some one’s opinion.
As Ayushmann put it in one of his poetries nicely:
“Mujhe na hero, na saviour, na superman banna tha. Jo ro sake, jo gaa
sake, kisi ko bacha paaye toh bacha sake, aisa man banna tha”.
That is what being a MAN is all about!

We have read since childhood that do not judge a book by its cover. Similarly just because a few men do wrong in our society, we cannot label each and every one of you. But I am sorry that we continuously do so. You deserve better. We cannot judge you because we have a friend in you who deserves our respect for being with us every step of the way.
What I am trying to say to all you men out there- each one of you is amazing and special in your own way!
Here’s one short poem which I came across:
Life is a puzzle which needs to be figured out,
You’re always supportive, help in clearing doubts.
There is a lot that we owe you,
With you by our side,
Problems to tackle are few
and everything has a whole new view.
Wishing all men (not) reading this a very HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY!
