An eyeliner is an essential part of any female’s makeup routine. Even on days when you decide to go au naturel- a simple eyeliner can instantly lift up your complete look. It gives the effect of “opening up” your eyes more, making them look bigger and brighter.
So now that we have established the importance of an eyeliner, here are some tips as to how to choose the correct one. If you are wondering why that is important, well, with so many brands and variants available in the market, you are spoilt for choice. And choosing the right one is extremely important if you want to get that wing right.
Without any further ado, let’s get shopping!
- The tip
The very first thing that you should look for while eyeliner shopping is to examine the tip of the applicator. It is thick? How long are the bristles? Are they ruffled or are they sleek? These are important questions you should be asking because the tip is the make or break part of an eyeliner. Why? Because the fancy packaging is going to do zilch for you. A strong, thin, sleek tip is your best friend. It will help you give the perfect finish to your eyeliner wing.
The logic is simple- the sleeker the tip, the less chances you have of messing it up. Think it is too thin? You can always embolden it up.
- The color
You do not have only black eyeliners these days. So if you have dark circles, you can certainly try browns and greys which looks amazing. And if you are the experimental type, there is no dearth of colors out there! There is literally every color available these days (in glitter too!). Isn’t that amazing?! But make sure that the color of the eyeliner is highly pigmented because if it isn’t, it will look really dull and make you look tired and washed out.
- The formula
Another aspect that people tend to overlook while shopping for an eyeliner is its formula. If the formula is too drying, it will turn flaky soon and will most probably start chipping off and irritate your eyes. And if it is too runny, it is not going to give you the perfect wing that you are looking for. So while you are shopping, make sure you try it out first on the underside of your wrist as I think the skin there generally matches the skin around your eyes.
- Waterproof and long lasting
Last but not the least, ensure that your eyeliner is waterproof and long lasting. With the days getting hotter, sweatier and longer, you are going to want to make sure that your eyeliner does not need frequent re-applications because that is not worth the effort. You need an eyeliner that will withstand long hours, water and sweat (especially in summers).
So once an eyeliner passes this checklist successfully, you have probably found your perfect match and then and ONLY then should you swipe right on it!
